FAMILY THERAPY

Many families face difficult transitions that benefit from therapeutic guidance. Therapy can help families facing loss, transition or challenges in communication which affects a family's ability to continue to function in healthy ways. Family therapy is a unique experience for everyone and is an opportunity to express themselves in an environment where each member can be heard.


PLAY THERAPY

Play is a child's first and natural language and is the best method for communicating with most children. Through play, a child can explore and process difficult emotions that may be impossible to express in any other way.


PARENT COACHING

Often, parents feel stuck and are looking for guidance and support. Coaching is a collaborative approach to help parents find solutions that fit their parenting style. Through Filial Therapy, parents are trained to provide special play time to their children, similar to play therapy. You can learn how to reconnect with your child and form a new kind of bond!


AutPlay

AutPlay Therapy is a neurodiversity informed and affirming collaborative process designed to value the individual child and highlight their strengths as well as guide areas of intervention, goals, and approaches for addressing the needs of the child and family. It combines the therapeutic powers of play and relationship development approaches together in a collaborative model to assist children and adolescents in gaining needed skills and abilities.


Perinatal mental health refers to a woman’s mental health during pregnancy and the first years after birth. This area of mental health care can also include a partner’s mental health and couples’ issues, as well as challenges that arise around fertility, including pregnancy loss and infertility.

COUPLES tHERAPY

Whether we like it or not, relationships take work, especially when we are in partnership with another human trying to juggle all of our roles at work, in our families and communities! Couples therapy can help two individuals gain insight into their relationship, resolve conflict and improve their connection. It can also be used to help couples get ready to make commitments to one another. Couples therapy can be of huge benefit to any relationship, regardless of the nature or severity of your challenges.


School-based services are provided on-site at your child’s school. These services allow your child to have access to therapy and consultation with the convenience of the session taking place at school. The therapist will work with your child’s teacher to coordinate a time to conduct the session during school hours. On going school-based services is currently offered at First Presbyterian Preschool.

SCHOOL-BASED Services


Child-Parent Psychotherapy sessions concentrate on parent–child interactions to support and foster healthy coping, affect regulation, and increase appropriate reciprocity between parent and child. This therapy is offered for young children from birth through age five and it strengthens relationships, helps families heal and grow after stressful experiences, and respects family and cultural values.

Filial Therapy

Filial Therapy is a play-based therapy program that is the “gold standard” for treatment of behavioral, emotional, social, and attachment challenges. Dozens of studies confirm its effectiveness in improving relationships and alleviating children’s struggles.


Substance use Counseling

Seeking counseling for substance related issues is common and can help individuals to explore personal motivation for continued substance use. Counseling can be helpful at any point on the spectrum of use.


ONLINE THERAPY

We offer therapy sessions via video or phone. We offer online video sessions and distance therapy to residents anywhere in Georgia including all counties in Metro Atlanta and Macon, Savannah, Columbus, Athens, Augusta, Albany, Columbus, Statesboro and Dalton. Video sessions allow clients to participate in therapy from the comfort of their own home, dorm room, offices, during lunch breaks or while on vacation. Video sessions conveniently offer access to therapy in even the most remote parts of Georgia.

We are also offering in person sessions again! We are following the CDC guidelines and working with clients and therapists to offer indoor or outdoor sessions with or without masks depending on client and therapist vaccination and comfort levels.
