Leah Kelley, LmSW

My goal is to meet each person where they are, to help them feel heard, to grow in self-compassion, and learn to validate their emotions.

I have experience working with youth and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, body image, trauma recovery, grief, and LGBTQIA+ and gender identity.

In my individual and family therapy sessions, I incorporate multiple modalities including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT-Informed), mindfulness, Internal Family Systems, Horticultural Therapy, and Play Therapy.

DBT-informed therapy focuses on balancing acceptance and change, utilizing practical emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness skills. I believe that gardens offer many metaphors to talk about our daily lives and emotions, as well as an ideal space to engage in multi-sensory mindfulness practices.

I obtained my Master of Social Work and Master of Public Health degrees at the University of Georgia, and I am a Licensed Master's Social Worker. Prior to joining Gaia, I worked at Hillside as a Community Family Support Specialist and a Day Program Therapist. I completed my undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies and Agriscience, which led me on my journey to become a youth garden educator. When I saw how healing engaging with the garden could be with the kids I worked with, and I discovered Horticultural Therapy, and completed a certificate through the Horticultural Therapy Institute.

I would welcome the opportunity to hold a safe space for you and/or your child to navigate the messiness in this world.
